Description This FLAT LEAD comes from Hends Products of the Czech Republic. For years I have been using sticky back flat lead but recognised that, when leading small hooks, at least one third of the thickness of the lead was actually the glue on the back which obviously does not weigh as much as the lead! So finding these pre-cut strips was a revelation – simple to use, easy to cut, I can now lay down an underbody that weighs at least one third more than before. As the lead is not sticky, you simply start with a fine thread base on the hook shank then trap down the end of the lead with a few turns of thread, take your thread to the end of the area of the shank that you wish to lead and wind the strip in touching turns to that point, trapping down again with the thread – easy! The lead comes in two widths with at least 12 strips in each pack, each strip being 6 inches long (15 cm) Small (1mm x 0.2 mm) – suitable for hook sizes 16 and 18 Large (1 mm x 0.4mm ) for hooks sizes 14 and larger.
