Description I am delighted to re-introduce a product that has not been available for over 7 years – SILICONISED POLYPROPYLENE YARN – MIDGE WING This yarn was originally exclusively offered by Niche Products of Essex, England and found great favour with fly tyers Worldwide. Sadly, Peter Smith of Niche retired 7 years ago and the product disappeared from the market – until now! I have sent samples out to colleagues who have examined the material and can confirm it is the geniune article. This is a multi strand polypropylene yarn that has been treated with silicon – every single strand has been coated, resulting in a material that has a specific gravity of below 1 – meaning that it floats on water! It is at least half the diameter of the standard yarn and the individual fibres are finer – and has a sheen to the material. This is a great product (and the original) for micro Klinkhamer and parachute dun wings – also excellent for spinner wings. The material, as when offered by Niche, is available in just two colours – Medium Dun and White. The material is NOT wrapped on a card – so no creases and wasted material!
