Similar to a “marabou-like” chickabou, and treated with WaterShed for additional floatability, Cul de Chicken comes on the skin and costs less than traditional CDC. Great for dry fly and emerger wings! Simply pluck some feathers off the skin and tie in as you would CDC; the stems are very supple so the plumes can also be wrapped like a hackle at the eye of the hook to give a traditional collar style of hackle. Try it as an alternative to a normal wing post – being pre-treated with waterShed, the feathers float very well.
