This is a piece of ostrich plume, selected for its long herl and then marked along its entire length with black barring. Each herl is at least 6 inches (15 cm) in length – ideal for wrapping bodies and heads on patterns – the barring gives it a superb effect and the wrapped herl will give your patterns a “halo” effect. Try using this for the bodies on your Caddis pupa patterns – also looks excellent for bodies on Spider patterns – Ostrich also imitates gills on nymph patterns very well. Each piece of Ostrich plume has a stem of 2 1/2 inches.
