The main advantage over conventional round wire is that the flat surface reflects a lot more light – and also offers little more strength. Brilliant for ribbing bodies, it cuts less into dubbing,which enhances the ribbing effect even more. Flat wire therefore combines the effect of tinsel and the strength and added weight of wire!
